ABOUT NOVA PANGEA

who we are

NOVA PANGEA is a band dedicated to spreading positive messages through cause-oriented music with a secular-humanist approach.

Nova Pangea promotes awareness about peace, animal rights, environmental protection, and the human condition while addressing youth challenges such as domestic violence and bullying.

MISSION

Our mission is to inspire people to embrace the richness of diversity through music while including and promoting other artistic expressions that are aligned with our philosophy and culture. Our aim is to motivate people to be proactive in humanitarian endeavors while encouraging them to live a harmonious life, together.

VISION

Through Together in Harmony’s concerts and events, we seek to inspire a grassroots movement where musicians and artists can join forces to inspire people to live in harmony through love and respect. We plan to create a pro-active artistic platform where peace, human rights, animal and environmental advocates, work together to join Nova Pangea’s culture “Together in Harmony.”

HISTORY

Nova Pangea was founded by Uriel Vázquez and Carmina Murillo in 2016 and debuted with two shows at the Taste of Dallas festival on June 4 and 5 of that year. Nova Pangea produced its first Together in Harmony concert at the Latino Cultural Center on August 25, 2016, with Northwestern Mutual as a main sponsor. Nova Pangea has performed at the House of Blues, The Hard Rock Cafe, The Balcony Club, and the Opening Bell, as well as at international online book fairs in Italy, UK, Colombia, and Mexico. Locally the band has performed at Alcuin School and “Career Day” at Winnetka Elementary school.

From March 27, 2020 through May 29, 2021, NOVA PANGEA broadcasted a series of weekly free-online shows called TOGETHER IN HARMONY, bringing positive music to help people cope during the COVID-19 confinement. Families were entertained with positive messages and thousands of people eagerly watched the weekly free shows. Nova Pangea also supported other artists by inviting them as guests and promoted their art. After fourteen months of streaming its Together in Harmony shows, Nova Pangea reached out thousands of people from all over the wold through Facebook and YouTube.

Today, Nova Pangea is producing the TOGETHER IN HARMONY DALLAS ’22 festival, with the funding of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture. This is the first inclusive art festival for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Other musicians have joined the band and they are getting ready to perform at the kickoff show on January 15 of 2022 at 5 pm CT. The band includes Deaf flute player, Doreen Fisher, Hard of Hearing harpist, Laurel McConkey, and ASL interpreter Brittany Mayers. You can watch the shows at Nova Pangea’s Facebook page, Together in Harmony Dallas ‘22 Facebook group and at their YouTube channel.

Now, they are working in producing their first CD, featuring ten original songs (in English, Spanish and Portuguese) and with the goal to inspire people to embrace the power of diversity and to live in harmony.
